Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

In today’s Gospel, Jesus opens with the declaration: “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Before Jesus sends His disciples out into an uncertain world, He grounds them \u2014 and us \u2014 in this message from the One who is sending us. Our mission is not undertaken in our own strength or by our own wisdom. We go because we are sent by God, the Lord of all creation, and that changes everything. Even the disciples, standing on that mountain in Galilee, “worshiped, but they doubted” \u2014 and yet Jesus commissioned them anyway. He meets us in our imperfect faith and still calls us forward.

The promise that closes this Gospel is perhaps the greatest assurance in all of Scripture: “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” The command to go, to baptize, to teach \u2014 none of it is meant to be carried alone. Every act of service, every word of witness, every quiet moment of faithful perseverance is accompanied by the living presence of Christ Himself. We are people in whom and with whom Jesus continues to dwell and work.\u00a0Jesus is the source of our courage, our hope, and our joy as we go out into the world He loves.<\/em>
