Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,<\/div>\n

“A sower went out to sow\u2026” These simple words open one of the most powerful parables in the Gospel \u2014 a story about gardening, yes, but really about listening to God’s word and letting it grow in us. When we live our faith, we become fertile soil for God’s word to take root and flourish. But that word can only grow in a heart that’s open and willing. Over time, the seed planted in us at baptism can get tangled in life’s weeds \u2014 our own blindness, selfishness, and self-absorption. Still, the seed that lands on good soil always bears fruit.
<\/strong>
Here’s the good news: the harvest will come. Some seeds fall on hard ground, some on shallow soil, some get choked by thorns \u2014 but a harvest is still promised. Our work is to keep tending the garden: pulling weeds through prayer and reconciliation, and trusting God’s word even when it’s hard. Work on self-examination and seek humility \u2014 they are the paths that lead us to God.\u00a0This week, don’t worry about proving you’re good soil. Just notice what’s crowding things out \u2014 the busyness, the anxiety, the selfishness \u2014 and make a little more room. Not perfect soil. Just softer ground.<\/em><\/div>\n
