Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

Today’s gospel is about a way of life founded on love and mercy, but above all, about the person of Jesus Himself. There is no greater proof of God’s love for us than His Son’s death and resurrection that offered us new life through the gift and power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus should claim a special place in our lives, more important than our parents, spouse, or children. If we are disciples of Jesus, then He must be central to our lives; we need to follow His lead and take up our cross.

True followers of Christ are compelled to express mercy and grace towards those around us. As His disciples, we are called to be kind and generous; Jesus never refused to help anyone in need who asked. We are also assured that He notices even the smallest gesture of kindness we give to those in need. Jesus sets before us the one goal in life worth any sacrifice: union with God – uniting our heart, mind, and will with His. The reward of a life given over to God and obeying His voice is God Himself –the source of true peace and joy that lasts forever.

Abuse Awareness Policy and Workshops

Training Requirements: The Policy for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe regarding the protection and safety of children requires volunteers or employees to update their certificate every five years. All employees and volunteers must complete the training before beginning employment or volunteering. If you are a current employee or volunteer and your training has exceeded five years, your certificate must be updated immediately to continue with your position. The options to meet your training follow:

Once you have completed your training, please provide a copy of your certificate to the parish office for our records.

OLA now processes online donations through Our Sunday Visitor for a minimal cost. If you want to try online giving, we have provided instructions in a short video guide for you to watch just underneath the Online Giving link, above. If you prefer written instructions to set up your account they are as follows:

Click on the online giving link above and this will take you to OSV Hub.

Click on GIVE NOW Enter the Gift Amount, Gift Type, (Recurring or One-time), the Frequency (Weekly, Monthly, Bi-weekly), and Date. If you want to make changes to these options, click on the arrow pointing down to the right of these options.

Select “Continue” and enter your Email address, Name, Payment Information, and Payment Method Address.

After you enter the first gift go to SIGN IN at the top right corner and log in to your account with the email address and password just created. Schedule additional gifts.

Directions to Church and Parish Office

OLA Church is on the corner of Tennessee and Lomas.
From Wyoming, head west on Lomas, and from Louisana, head east on Lomas, turn south at Tennessee and make an immediate right into the church parking lot.

The Parish Office address is 811 Guaymas PL NE; turn south on Tennessee and make a right on Fruit Street. Head west on Fruit to the parking lot at the end of the street. The parish office is the building on the south side of the parking lot.
