Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Family,

 

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is preparing the people for His return – when He will appear in the clouds with power and glory. The day of His return will be unlike any other moment in time, history, and destiny for the human race and our place in God’s creation. Jesus’ first coming was a rescue mission – to free the human race from sin. His second coming will complete His mission, and He will make all things new: a new heaven and a new earth.

We do not know the day or hour when Jesus will return. Still, now, we can experience God’s kingdom in our daily lives through the Holy Spirit’s presence within us. Through His divine presence, these gifts of the Spirit flourish – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and many other virtuous qualities. These gifts empower us to love and serve others with mercy, patience, and goodness.
