Today, the feast of Christmas, we gather to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Jesus, the King of Kings who came to save us from sin and death so that we may have abundant life. The joy of Christmas is not for a day or a season. It is an eternal joy that no one can take from us because it is the joy of Jesus Christ himself made present in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. This event continues to give us the only real hope for what we long for most: peace in our hearts.    

God wants to fill our hearts anew with joy and gratitude for the greatest gift he gave us – His beloved Son, Jesus. The whole community of heaven joins us in a song of praise proclaimed by the angels on Christmas Eve: “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today, in the city of David, a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.”
