Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,
One of Christianity’s central and defining teachings is its message of grace. Grace means treating others not as they deserve but as God calls you to treat them—with loving kindness and mercy. God extends His goodness to the just and the unjust, embracing saints and sinners with love. He seeks our highest good and calls us to do the same, even for those who persecute us. Our love for others should reflect the same kindness and mercy that God has shown us. While it’s natural to show kindness when we expect it in return, true grace shines brightest when we give without expecting anything back. Jesus taught us two essential principles of prayer that work in harmony: “Forgive, and you will be forgiven,” and “Give, and it will be given to you.”
When we pray for those who hurt us, we unleash the power of love to overcome evil. God reminds us that the measure we use to judge others will be the same measure He will use to judge us. He bestows power and grace upon those who believe in Jesus and welcome the Holy Spirit into their lives. God’s love triumphs over all our hurts, fears, prejudices, and grief. Through the cross of Jesus, we can break free from the chains of malice, hatred, revenge, and resentment and find the courage to respond to evil with goodness. This transformative love and grace hold the power to heal and save us. When you truly understand the power of God’s love, mercy, and righteousness, you gain the strength to overcome evil with good. Embrace the gift of the Holy Spirit and ask Him to fill your heart with merciful love so that nothing can shake your temper, disturb your peace, or diminish your joy!
Have a peaceful day.
Yours in Christ,
Father Edward Domme
