Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,
The heart of Jesus’ message in today’s Gospel is that we can live a very happy life. Jesus sums up the call to holiness in these eight beatitudes. These eight declarations call us to become saints who pursue God and offer us wisdom for living with character and grace. When we answer God’s invitation with obedience and joy, we discover that only He can satisfy the longing of our souls and fill the emptiness that worldly things can never address.
The beatitudes contradict our culture’s definition of happiness, showing us how to find blessing in poverty, hunger, mourning, and persecution. These contradictions reveal a beautiful truth: spiritual poverty creates space for God’s presence, hunger for righteousness draws nourishment from His word, and sorrow over sin frees us from the heavy chains of guilt. Though the world may never understand this path, Jesus promises that the joys of heaven will be far greater than any challenges we face in this life. Embrace His call with courage, knowing that by making God your greatest treasure, you will find everlasting peace and happiness.
Have a blessed day.
Yours in Christ,
Father Edward Domme
