Fifth Sunday of Easter

Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.” In these words, Jesus speaks directly to the anxiety and uncertainty that so often fill our days. He does not dismiss our worries or pretend that life is without hardship — he acknowledges the troubled heart and meets it with a gentle, steadying invitation: trust. Trust in God, and trust in Him. This is not a call to naïve optimism, but to a deep, rooted confidence that the One who created us holds us completely — that our lives are held in hands that will never let go, no matter what storms arise around us.

And then Jesus goes further, offering us a vision of what awaits. In my Father’s house, there are many dwelling places. He promises not just comfort for today, but a home for eternity — a place prepared especially for each of us. What a remarkable word: prepared. Our place is not an afterthought. Jesus is actively making room for us, ensuring that where He is, we will also be. And when Thomas asks how they can possibly know the way, Jesus answers with one of the most profound declarations in all of Scripture: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He is not simply pointing us toward the path — He is the path. He is the truth that grounds us when the world feels uncertain, and the life that fills us when we feel empty. As we move through this Easter season, we are invited to live from that promise — not weighed down by fear, but lifted by the certainty that we are deeply known, deeply loved, and awaited by the One who is the way home.

Have a blessed day.

Yours in Christ,
Father Edward C. Domme
