The Resurrection of the Lord: The Mass of Easter Day
The Resurrection of the Lord: The Mass of Easter Day
Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,
On the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene made her way to the tomb. What she found stopped her in her tracks — the stone had been rolled away. In a panic, she ran to tell Peter and John, convinced that someone had taken the Lord’s body. Peter and John ran to see for themselves. They found the tomb empty, with the burial cloths lying neatly where the body had been. Something had happened here — something that did not look like the work of grave robbers. Everything was too orderly, too deliberate.
John entered, saw, and believed.
Today marks the Resurrection of Christ and the beginning of the Easter Season. The reality of the resurrection is the central mystery of our Catholic faith. During this special season, devote yourself to some quality time in daily prayer. The greatest joy we can have is to encounter Jesus and know him personally. That same simple act of belief — stepping into the unknown and trusting in the Risen Lord — is the invitation extended to each of us this Easter. Celebrate the feast of Easter with joy and thanksgiving!
