Dear OLA Parish Family,

We are like the apostles in today’s Gospel. We don’t believe it unless we can see with our own eyes. The Gospel accounts attest to Jesus’s resurrection. Jesus goes to great lengths to assure His disciples that He is no mere ghost or illusion. He shows them the marks of His crucifixion and explains how the Scriptures foretold His death and rising. 

The central message of the Gospel is the cross. Through the cross, Jesus defeated death and Satan and won pardon for our sins. His cross is the door to heaven and the key to paradise. When the disciples saw the risen Lord, they disbelieved for joy! How can death lead to life, the cross to victory? Just as the Apostles were commissioned to bring salvation to all nations, we are also called to witness His resurrection and proclaim the Gospel through our words and deeds. When we live the way of the cross, we walk in Jesus’s footsteps and transition from death to life with Him. This journey demands a profound change in our hearts, minds, and actions. It requires us to turn away from selfishness, pride, and sin and to turn toward Jesus with humility, repentance, and faith.
