Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

 

Jesus came not to abolish God’s law, but to reveal its true heart: love. The commandments aren’t burdens meant to restrict us, but a path of grace and freedom that flows from God’s goodness. When we embrace God’s law with the right spirit, we discover it teaches us to love God wholeheartedly and to love our neighbors as ourselves—respecting life, honoring relationships, and guarding our hearts from destructive desires.

 

We can’t fulfill this calling through willpower alone. That’s why Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, who writes God’s truth on our hearts and transforms us from the inside out. The Spirit gives us wisdom to understand God’s ways, strength when we’re weak, and the power to actually become like Christ. When we open ourselves to this gift, we find that what seemed impossible becomes possible—and we experience the deep blessing of living in alignment with God’s loving purpose for our lives.
