The Presentation of the Lord
February 2, 2025

Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

Simeon blessed Mary and Joseph, prophesying to Mary about her child’s destiny and the suffering she would endure for His sake. There exists a certain paradox for those blessed by the Lord. Mary was honored with the role of being the mother of the Son of God, yet that honor also transformed into a sword that pierced her heart as her Son died on the cross. She received both a crown of joy and a cross of sorrow. Nevertheless, her joy was not diminished by her sorrow, as it was fueled by her faith, hope, and trust in God and His promises. Jesus promised His disciples that no one will take your joy from you. The Lord grants us a supernatural joy that enables us to endure any sorrow or pain—a joy that neither life nor death can take away.

Life’s disappointments can easily lead us to become cynical and hopeless as we age if we do not anchor our hope in God. The hope that God instills within us through the gift of the Spirit empowers us to persevere with confidence in Him, even in the face of trials. Jesus has secured a kingdom of peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit brings hope to all who trust in God’s promises. Offer God everything you have and desire—your life, family, friends, health, honor, wealth, and future. If you seek His kingdom first, He will provide all you need. Submit to His will for your life and allow Jesus to fill your heart with His peace, joy, and love.

Have a blessed day.

Yours in Christ,
Father Edward Domme
