Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God
Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,
In the humble town of Bethlehem, eight days after His birth, the child born in a manger received the name that would change eternity: Jesus. The name given by God’s messenger before conception, meaning “the Lord saves,” is the very name that declares His mission. Where human effort and wisdom fall short, He carries the power of salvation itself. For in Jesus, God didn’t send a message about rescue—He became our rescue.

The name Jesus stands above every other name, holding an authority that makes demons flee, criples walk, the blind see, the deaf hear, and the dead raised to life. The name Jesus is at the heart of every Christian prayer. It is through and in Jesus that we pray to the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit. Many Christians have died with one word on their lips: Jesus. When we speak the name of Jesus with faith, we invoke God Himself, because Jesus is both fully God and fully man—the Word made flesh. Exalt His name in every circumstance, pray with confidence in His power, and remember that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. In Jesus, God’s grace, mercy, and eternal love find their perfect expression.
Happy New Year!
Yours in Christ,
Father Edward Domme
