Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

 

There’s something merciful hidden in this parable, if we look past the harvest scene at the end. The farmer doesn’t rush to pull the weeds. He waits. He lets the wheat and the weeds grow up side by side, roots tangled together, because he knows that trying to force an early separation would do more harm than good. This parable is not a story about condemnation — it’s a story about restraint. About a God who is patient with what’s unfinished in us, who doesn’t demand we have it all sorted out before we’re worth tending. Growth takes time, and mixed-up, imperfect growth is still growth.

God is gentle and patient with us and with our immaturity. Recognizing our sins isn’t God’s way of punishing us — it’s His way of tenderly guiding us toward spiritual maturity. Seeking humility and working on self-examination are the paths that lead us to God. His timing is unhurried, and His love has room for all of our unfinished growing. We must tend our spiritual garden with care, pulling out what needs to be pulled and trusting that God is patient with the timeline. Those who let goodness take root will shine with the beauty, joy, and fullness of God’s love.
