Dear OLA Parish Family, 

 

When Jesus went to Jerusalem at Passover time, He shocked the Jewish leaders by forcibly expelling the traders from the temple. Jesus referred to the temple as His Father’s house, which was being made into a house of trade. The disciples believed Jesus’ cleansing of the temple was a hopeful sign from God. However, the Jewish authorities wanted proof that Jesus had divine authority to act as He did. They demanded a sign from God to prove Jesus was right; otherwise, they would treat Him as a usurper of their authority. 

 

Jesus spoke of himself as the true temple; thus, the cleansing of the temple was seen as a sign of God’s work to purify and restore holiness among His people. God loved the world and gave His only begotten Son so that everyone who believes may have eternal life. Jesus wants to renew our minds and purify our hearts so that we may live in God’s presence now and forever. Ask Jesus to ignite a fire within you; allow His divine power to transform how you think, act, and speak so that you are a holy child of God.
