Dear OLA Parish Family,

Jesus’ departure and ascension into heaven was both an end and a beginning for His disciples. While it was the end of Jesus’ physical presence with His disciples, it marked the beginning of Jesus’ presence with them in a new way. As He ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, Jesus promised to send them the Holy Spirit, who would anoint them with power on the Feast of Pentecost. When Jesus departed physically from the apostles, they were not left in sorrow or grief. Instead, they were filled with joy and anticipation for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus, in His glorified body, reigns over the heavens and the earth as our Merciful Redeemer. He intercedes for us, and he empowers us through the outpouring of His Holy Spirit. Jesus gives us new life in His Spirit and calls us to live a life of faith and thanksgiving for the glory of God. He has entrusted all who follow Him to be His witness and ambassador to all the peoples, tribes, and nations so they may hear the good news: Jesus Christ has come to set us free from sin and death and has won for us a kingdom of peace, and joy, that will last until the end of all time.
