The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

The most recognized verse in all of Scripture — “For God so loved the world” — is not a statement about judgment. It is a declaration of love so complete that God entered into our humanity to draw us back to Himself. Jesus does not come as a prosecutor. He comes as a gift. The word “gave” is worth sitting with — this is not a transaction, not a test, but an offering made freely, out of love alone. And notice who is loved: the world. Not the worthy. Not the faithful. Not those who have it together. The whole, broken, searching, wandering world — including each of us exactly as we are.

In verses 17 and 18, God tells us he did not send His Son to condemn; condemnation was never the point. The point was salvation, rescue, restoration. Those who receive this gift step out of darkness and into light. Those who turn away remain in the shadow — not by God’s punishment, but by their own choosing. This passage is an invitation, not a verdict. As we move through our days, may we receive His love and reflect it outward to the world God so cherishes.

Have a peaceful day.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Edward C. Domme
