Sixth Sunday of Easter

Dear OLA Parish Family,

Jesus does not promise a life without challenge or difficulty, but He promises peace and abiding love. His word teaches us that God is always with us no matter how difficult our lives become. Through our suffering, He shows us we can attain goodness and mercy. Jesus gave His disciples a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you. He gives His followers this same commandment. He calls us to love others by giving of ourselves completely, a selfless and self-giving love that puts the welfare of others ahead of ours.

Jesus proved his love by giving His life for us on the cross. He shed His blood for our sake to wash our sins away and pour out His new life for us through the gift of the Holy Spirit. We prove our love for God and one another when we embrace His way of the cross. Jesus loves us unconditionally and calls us to love one another with the same depth of love He has for us. His love will fill our hearts, transform our minds, and free us to give ourselves in loving service to others. When we open our hearts and obey His command to love our neighbor, we will bear lasting fruit in our lives, fruit that endures for eternity.

Have a peaceful day.

Yours in Christ,
Father Edward Domme
