Sixth Sunday of Easter
Sixth Sunday of Easter
Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,
In our faith journey, Jesus promised to give His followers the best of gifts, the Holy Spirit as their Counselor and Helper. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate who guides and strengthens us and brings us safely through the challenges and adversities we must face in this life. Jesus did not promise a life without challenge or difficulty. Through His word, He teaches us that God is always with us, no matter how difficult our lives become, and that, through our suffering, we can attain goodness, truth, and mercy. God does not expect us to be happy; He expects us to be holy.
Our journey of faith depends on our choices in life and in our relationship with God. The Holy Spirit helps us grow in God’s knowledge and love. If we seek the Holy Spirit, He will strengthen us with His virtues and enable us to live as wise and holy disciples of Christ. The way of the cross is the only way to peace. Every other way will fall short of the glory Jesus won for us through his death and resurrection.
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and to all who fulfill motherly roles. A Mother’s love is one of the clearest images of God we are given on this earth. Thank you, mothers, for the gift of life, and for the love and guidance that you unselfishly give to those you raise. May our Mother Mary continue to grant you the wisdom, strength, and courage needed to sustain you through the trials of Motherhood.
Yours in Christ,
Father Edward Domme
