Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Blessed are the Poor in Spirit,
For Theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Family,
Jesus warns His disciples against the wrong kind of religion. In His denunciation of the scribes, He warns against the desire for fame, recognition, or attempting to use one’s position for self-gain. True religion is relating to God and your neighbor with love, honor, and respect. The Lord gives us His Holy Spirit so that we may experience the joy of His presence, engage in true worship, and practice selfless giving and love for others. Genuine reverence for God opens our hearts to give generously to God and our neighbor.
Jesus taught that real giving comes from the heart. A gift that is given with reluctance or for show loses most of its value. A gift given from love, with a spirit of generosity and sacrifice, is invaluable. What matters more than the size of our gift is the intent behind it. Undoubtedly, the poor widow could have kept one of her coins, but instead, she gave away all she had. Even if what we have to offer seems very small, if we place all we have at God’s disposal, He can achieve wonders through us that go beyond our human understanding.
Have a peaceful day.
Yours in Christ,
Father E. Domme
