Dear Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Family,

 

Jesus longs to free us from resentment, ill will, and the grip of an unforgiving heart. Accountability for what we’ve done — and left undone — will always find us, both now and on the day of judgment. But that’s not meant to burden us; it’s an invitation. Today, we have the chance to respond with grace rather than fear.
 Pray for those who’ve hurt us. In every way we can, let’s seek to reach them with God’s healing love and wisdom.

 When someone has wounded us, it’s not easy to set aside our own hurt to tend to theirs — but this is where grace does its deepest work. So often we hold tightly to our anger. Yet when we open our hearts to Jesus, his love both purifies us and frees us to do good for everyone, even those who’ve caused us pain. Jesus invites us to pray each day for the grace to forgive others as generously as God has forgiven us. When we pray for those who hurt us, we open the door for love’s quiet power to overcome evil. May our love for others reflect the same kindness and mercy God has shown us — freely, without condition — so that we, too, might be a source of good in someone else’s life, just as God has been for us.
