Casserole Cooking Ministry
In May 2009, Our Lady of the Assumption began a “Casserole Cooking” ministry that provides good, hot meals to the community’s homeless and hungry men, women, and children in our city. The Good Shepherd Center staff has provided our parish the recipes and covered containers. All we have to do is follow a recipe, make a casserole, freeze it, and return it to the parish office. Click on the Casserole Cooking link for details.

Youth Confirmation Classes
Confirmation deepens the baptismal gifts and is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. This sacrament is sealed with the Holy Spirit. “By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by work and deed (1285, Catechism of the Catholic Church).”
High School Confirmation is open to all high school age youth of the parish who have received the sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion. The program provides catechesis for those who will be confirmed.
Requirements for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation:
- Have been actively involved in religious education in a school or parish and/or Youth ministry for at least 2 years.
- Are in the 9th grade or above
- Have been Baptized and received Eucharist (requires a copy of baptismal certificate). Those who have not received Reconciliation and Eucharist will need to attend High School sacramental preparation
- Complete all catechetical, spiritual and service components required within their time of preparation
- Sunday Mass attendance
- Minimal absences and active participation in weekly sessions

Welcome to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish
Welcome to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish
Dear Friends and Visitors to Our Lady of the Assumption,
These are certainly extraordinary times for the whole world. People everywhere are suffering and no one seems exempt. Beginning on Palm Sunday, we began the celebrations of Holy Week, trying to re-live with devotion the last week of the Lord’s life. Although we are unable to be present to each other during this time, I invite you to personal prayer and meditation, by taking advantage of the many Catholic websites linked under the RESOURCE tab (above). One site in particular I highly recommend is “My Catholic Life!” This site is so good, I have put it in a special Link directly under this letter.
Please be assured of my prayers during the Triduum; 7:00 pm Holy Thursday, 3:00 pm Good Friday, and 8:00 pm Easter Vigil. Remember, although there is no obligation to watch mass on the Internet or TV, and unfortunately there is no Eucharist, it is still a time to be remembered with reverence and devotion. Let us be strong and faithful,
Yours
in Christ,
Rev. Edward C. Domme
